I focus a lot on helping moms prepare for pregnancy and birth, but it's just as important to make sure that whoever is supporting you during your birth is knowledgeable and ready too. There's a growing interest around helping educate the people who will be supporting the person giving birth, and we've luckily got an expert on the subject with us for today's episode.
Today I'm joined by Alice Turner, a doula, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, and the creator of SupportingHer - a childbirth education class for whomever is going to be supporting you during labor. Alice believes that partners have a vital role to play on any successful birth team, and she's helping them feel engaged, ready, and excited for the experience.
Alice and I talk about why it's so important for your support partner to be knowledgeable and prepared going into your birth. She shares tips about what the supporting partner should and shouldn't do, along with her favorite advice for providing physical and emotional assistance both during and after birth.
We also talk about how her own birth experiences have shaped her work, as well as some of the birth stories she's experienced first hand with her clients.
