We need to stop saying "Just be happy to have a he We need to stop saying "Just be happy to have a healthy baby."

Birth is a special event that doesn’t happen very often. So of course you have wishes beyond just physical health for this beautiful life changing event.

⏩Now, unfortunately not everyone sees things that way. There are doctors, nurses, and even family members or friends who will tell you “just be happy to have a healthy baby”.

⏩And yes of course you want a healthy baby, but beyond that, I know you want to be listened to and you want to be treated with compassion, dignity and respect, and you deserve nothing less.

So let's stop telling women how to feel and start listening to them.
We can be an amazing community.

💙Double tap if you agree!💙

Hello! Have we met yet? I'd love to get to know y Hello! Have we met yet?

I'd love to get to know you a bit better so I figured I should start with myself and how I got into preparing soon-to-be moms for the birth of their babies!

🤰For starters, I've been working with pregnant women for 20 years.

I started sharing my knowledge and expertise online after seeing SO MANY women feel scared, overwhelmed, and unprepared when it came time to give birth.

Having given birth to two smart, kind, and hilarious girls, I know firsthand the fear and anxiety that comes from navigating all the options you have for your birth experience.

That became especially true when my first daughter was born 8 weeks premature — with an intestinal malformation called duodenal atresia, that required surgery.

She spent a month in the neonatal intensive care unit, but I’m happy to report she’s thriving today (including being a year ahead in school and 6 inches taller than me and counting!).

I’ve come to appreciate how important it is for women to educate themselves so they can advocate for the beautiful birth they want and deserve.

Welcome to the community! I'm thrilled to have you here!

👋Drop a hello below and tell me about yourself!

💗Today’s guest, Liesel Teen, BSN, RN, is a la 💗Today’s guest, Liesel Teen, BSN, RN, is a labor and delivery nurse and the founder of Mommy Labor Nurse.

I’ve been wanting to have a labor and delivery nurse on for a long time because I know how important they are to the birth experience.

Liesel and I obviously have quite a bit of overlap in what we do, but I never want to come in front of you like I’m the only one with information to help you through your pregnancy and birth.

💗Now of course I offer fantastic information but it’s great to have more than one trusted source.

We come from different backgrounds, different experiences, and we bring that to our work.

💗It can also be reassuring to hear the same thing from multiple experts.

Different people present information in different ways and you may just find that one educator’s style works for you better than another.

You’ll Learn:

➡️ What exactly does a labor and delivery (L&D) nurse do during labor and birth

➡️What are some misconceptions about L&D nurses

➡️How L&D nurses work with doulas, doctors, and midwives
What should you expect from your L&D nurse

➡️What you should do if you are not happy with your L&D nurse

➡️What are some tricks and tips that Liesel has learned from her career
